As you can guess, last weeks win over Troy has given us a boost in Sun Belt recruiting. The coaches have been hitting the recruiting trail hard knowing that the final games of the season will make or break us on a few final prospects. The three big guys we are after are who I will focus on in this post.
Barrett Bailey is a dual threat QB out of Baton Rouge. At 6'4" he's got great size for the position. He's ranked as one of the top 40 players in LA and in the top 25 for his position nationally. He's also looking at offers from Duke, Stanford, Arkansas, and a few others. While he's projected as an LSU lean, the Warhawks shouldn't be counted out of this race quite yet!
Tyrone Duplessis is a scat-back style all-purpose player out of New Orleans' O. Perry Walker high school. ULM is in the mix for his signature along with LATech, Southern Miss, and Auburn. He seems to be of the Trindon Holliday or Maurice Jones-Drew mold of back in that he is small but versitile. If he makes it to Monroe, he'd be on the field as a HB, WR, PR, and KR. The recruitment of Duplessis is heating up but ULM is still one of his favorites.
Barkevious Mingo is a home grown Monroe prospect who is the number 10 OLB in America! He's tall but a bit undersized. No worries though, as our coaches will certainly be able to get him in shape to play real Warhawk football! I'm really excited about the prospects of landing this kid because of his impressive offer sheet. He's got offers from Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and others which means he's a real stud! While some of you ULM detractors would quickly say that he's got no business with the Warhawks, I would like to point out that my sources (and they're really really good) say that these other schools are Bark-ing up the wrong tree if they're looking to snatch this prospect out of Monroe!
